Awareness classes about diabetes in nearby Instituitions
Awareness classes about diabetes was organized with the objective of educating the staff of our nearby S H Medical Centre about diabetes, its risk factors, prevention, management and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle. B-Pharm and Pharm D students along with faculty members visited these institutions to raise awareness about diabetes, its types, symptoms and complications. Also educated them about the risk factors associated with diabetes and the method to prevent its onset. Information to promote a healthy lifestyle for diabetes management including proper nutrition and physical activity were also explained. Healthy eating habits focused on portion control, balanced meals and the significance of diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains etc were detailed. Simple exercises and physical activities suitable for individuals with diabetes were demonstrated and the importance of regular physical activity in managing blood sugar levels and overall health was emphasized. They also stressed the importance of early detection, regular monitoring, and management of diabetes. Queries and concerns raised by the participants were addressed and encouraged to share their experiences related to diabetes. A pamphlet containing key information on diabetes and a healthy lifestyle was distributed for further reference. Principal or senior faculty members from each institution expressed gratitude for the educational initiative, which help them to lead a healthy life.

CANCER DAY AWARENESS PROGRAM
Public awareness program were organized to spread information on cancer prevention and management. The program focused on creating awareness about the risk factors associated with cancer and the importance of a healthy lifestyle to resist the occurrence of cancer. The need for regular exercise, adherence to healthy food habits, regular health check-ups, early detection through screening and awareness campaigns, etc were emphasized during the program. Various methods for early detection through self-examination methods were also explained. The program was conducted to empower every person to become advocated for cancer awareness within their families and communities.
After the awareness program, informational pamphlets and brochures were distributed to the audience and addressed individual concerns and queries of the participants. Almost 100 participants attended the program.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT SCHEME
Awareness program on Immunizations at Thaneermukkam Panchayat
An awareness program on immunizations was organized on 24/04/2023, with the objective of educating parents about the importance of immunizations and promoting vaccination to prevent the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases. The program aimed to reach the parents of the pediatric population and provide them with accurate information regarding vaccines and their benefits. The session started at 10 am Mr. Praveen G Panikcer and highlighted the importance of immunizations in preventing infectious diseases. The doctor addressed the common misconceptions and concerns related to vaccines and provided accurate information about recommended vaccination schedules for different age groups. Pamphlets containing key information about vaccines, their benefits, and recommended schedules were distributed to parents to disseminate accurate information about immunizations. Interactive sessions were organized to engage the participants and foster discussions about immunizations. Queries and concerns from parents were also addressed during the session. The minimum age to breastfeed a child, Common lifestyle diseases affecting children, and glands affected by Mumps etc were some of the queries raised by the parents. Representative of parents shared their experience as this improved their awareness about recommended vaccine schedules and the importance of staying up to date with vaccinations. A drawing and painting program was conducted for children and they were enthusiastic about participating the program.
NSS coordinator Mrs.Theresa George expressed appreciation to the healthcare providers and team volunteers, parents and children who participated actively in the program. The session ended at 12pm.
NASHA MUKTH ABHIYAN
Programme Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
The awareness session on drug abuse was conducted on 19th November, 2022 at KVM College of Pharmacy,Cherthala with the aim of educating students about the consequences of drug abuse. The program was conducted for our college students. The session started off with an introductory speech by the Principal. This was followed by the awareness class by Mr.K.I Antony (Preventive Officer,Excise Department, Cherthala). The current issues related to drug abuse and statistics were presented. Various examples related to the topic were shared for better understanding among students. The presentation aimed to raise awareness, provide information and promote prevention strategies to combat the growing issue of drug abuse in our society. Students were able to understand the different categories of drugs, including stimulants, depressants, hallucinogens, and opioids; and their potential effects on physical and mental health as well as the risk associated with drug abuse including addiction, health problems, and social consequences. Short-term and long-term complications were explained and the impact of drug abuse on personal relationships, academic performance, and overall well-being etc were discussed. Information regarding the signs and symptoms of drug abuse will help them to identify potential issues in themselves or others. Details on available resources and support networks for individuals struggling with drug addiction were also provided and encouraged the students to adopt preventive measures and make informed decisions to avoid drug abuse. Counseling services and rehabilitation programs available for drug addicts were also explained in order to spread the message in the community. The programe ended at 4pm with vote of thanks.

DISTRIBUTION OF HEARING AID
A hearing aid distribution programme was conducted on 12.05.2023 by Department of pharmacy practice which aimed to provide assistance to individuals with hearing impairments with in our community by distributing hearing aids . The programme was inaugurated and the hearing aids were distributed by Mr Pyarilal, Director of KVM group of institutions.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP
A Blood donation camp was organised by department of pharmacy practice and NSS unit of KVM College of Pharmacy in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Alappuzha on 11 th December 2023. The camp was conducted by blood bank of Alappuzha Medical College. Around 60 students from different batches registered for the camp. The camp was inaugurated by Adv. K Radhakrishnan, Chairman of Red Cross Society, Dr. V.V Pyarelal, Director of KVM Trust presided over the function and delivered presidential address. The programme started with welcome address by Dr. Beena P, Principal KVM College of Pharmacy and ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Chithra C Nair, Professor and HOD Department of Pharmacy

HAIR DONATION CAMP
The NSS unit of KVM College of Pharmacy. Cherthala organized a hair donation camp on 19/01/23 within the college premises. The camp inaugrated by Mrs. Teresa George P, Associate Professor of KVM College of Pharmacy. Hair donors from the college actively participated in the event. 32 hair donors volunteered for the same. NSS volunteers arranged event in a well organized manner. The collected hair was donated to the Cancer Research Centre, Ernakulam.
