Research Advisor Committe

To render advice and guidance for future growth on research related issues to the top management a “Research Advisory Committee” is constituted with experts from various research fields. The primary roles of the Research Advisory Committee is to advice, support and promote the development, implementation, review and dissemination of all research and evaluation activities within the Institute.  The committee provides policy guidelines and direction for the growth and development of research activities on Academic Research.

SCOPE:

The scope of the activities envisaged for the committee include,

  • To provide policy guidelines and direction for the growth and development of research activities.
  • To advice on thrust areas and disciplines for introducing research programmes and related activities for future development in research.
  • To suggest measures for improving existing infrastructural facilities both for academic research and enhancing research ambiance.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMMITTEE:

  • To guide students to identify the focus area and develop the study design and methodology of research.
  • To review the research proposal and finalize the topic of research.
  • To forward the reviewed protocols to KVMCP Institutional Ethics Committee, New Delhi for approval process.
  • To periodically review and assist in the progress of the research work of the student.
  • A student shall appear before the Research Advisory Committee once in six months to make a presentation of the progress of his/her work for evaluation and further guidance.
  • The six monthly progress reports shall be submitted by the Research Advisory Committee by the student.
  • In case the progress of the student is unsatisfactory, the Research Advisory Committee shall record the reasons for the same and suggest corrective measures. If the research scholar fails to implement these corrective measures, the Research Advisory Committee may recommend to the KVMCP Institutional Ethics Committee with specific reasons for cancellation of the registration of the research scholar.
  • To submit an “Action Taken” Report in every quarter to the Registrar.

REVIEW PROCESS

  • Every proposal will be asked to submit to the Member Secretary by students before discussion during the KVMCPRAC meeting.
  • Students will discuss the proposal in detail during the KVMCPRAC meeting and reviewed for scientific rationale and methodological issues, including study design and statistics.
  • If the Member-Secretary feels that expertise within the KVMCPRAC on a particular research project is limited, experts from the related specialties within the institute or other institutions may be requested to attend the meeting and review the proposal.
  • The reviewed protocols are permitted to submit the same to KVMCP Institutional Ethics Committee.

DECISIONS ON PROPOSALS

The aim is to provide feedback to improve quality of the proposed research. The decision can fall into the following categories:

  1. Approved – Proposals found to be scientifically sound with robust methodology will be approved
  2. Approved with minor modifications – Modified proposal will be reviewed by the KVMCPRAC
  • Major changes and resubmission
  1. Rejected

MEMBERSHIP

There shall be a Chairperson, a Member Secretary and other members that shall be decided on review basis as per need.

Chairperson must be of the rank of Professor.

Members shall be expertise from the teaching and nonteaching staff with due representation of seniors as well as juniors from within or outside the institution.

The Chairperson has the power to change the constituent of the committee; and in consultation with the Member Secretary, shall decide the number of the members under a sound working principles, with a minimum number of members as Five (5).
