PHARMACY CAREER: NAVIGATING OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES BY SAMSONS MEDLIN ACADEMY
SSGP and Career guidance and placement cell of KVM College of Pharmacy had conducted an orientation class in association with SAMSONS MEDLIN ACADEMY, Cochin on the topic Navigating Opportunities and Challenges on 20th February 2025 at 10 AM in our Seminar hall. Mr. Unmesh Sam, General Manager, Samsons Medlin Academy had taken classes for 6th and 8th semester B.Pharm students on various navigating opportunities and challenges that students face while moving abroad in terms of job or higher studies. He further emphasised on how to prepare for the various competitive exams like GPAT, HAAD, DOH, MOH, OPERA, IELTS, TOFEL, etc.
Further he in depth explained the importance of GPAT and based upon its score how one can approach higher studies and PhD programmes and boosted students to start preparing for these exams from their second year onwards. Further he added the various coaching his academy provides for students and its benefits. The entire session lasted for a period of two hours. Students were inspired and motivated and had decided to prepare and appear the upcoming GPAT exams.
Further Mr. Unmesh Sam had expressed his willingness to sign a MoU with our college and give necessary guidance for our students in upcoming years.


REPORT ON CPR TRAINING SESSION
The NSS volunteers of KVM college of Pharmacy, Cherthala in association with Heart care foundation conducted a CPR training session on 30th January 2025 for the students of 1st D. Pharm, 5th sem B.Pharm, 8th sem B.Pharm, 1st Pharm D and 4th PharmD. The session was inaugurated by Dr. Beena P, Principal and class was taken by Mrs.Limi Rose Tom, COO, Heart care foundation.The hands on training was given by trainers, Mr. Mebin, Mr. Aswin, Mr. Jithin Thakachen and Mr. Akshay. A total of 187 students participated as NSS volunteers.



KLICKEDU LIVE SEMINAR ON GLOBAL CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND INTERVIEW SKILLS
A one-day live seminar was conducted by KlickEdu consultancy on the topic career opportunities and interview skills in association with career guidance and placement cell, KVM College of Pharmacy, Cherthala on 22/11/24 from
2 – 4:30 PM in the seminar hall, KVMCP.
Classes were taken divided into two sessions stating the career opportunities for students for higher studies and job in Ireland and also how to develop one’s interview skills. Mrs. Deepa Dan general manager, DSA global Pvt Ltd had taken class on career opportunities in Ireland and Mr. Muhammed P Hashim, Senior consultant trainer had taken class on developing one’s interview skills. It was a fruitful session well appreciated by students.
EAZYLINK ACADEMY – SEMINAR
A seminar on resume building session and critical skill shortages was taken by Mr. Sony Akkara, an international certified career coach, Founder and executive director of EAZYLINK Academy, Thrissur on 22/05/24, in our college campus. Moreover they had emphasised on the various job opportunities abroad especially in Ireland, UK and how the students need to understand and prepare themselves to fit in to such situations.
BUSINESS CONSULTATION PROGRAM AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES TO ENTREPRENEURS
Conducting a business consultation program along with networking opportunities will be highly beneficial for entrepreneurs. For this reason, a discussion was arranged by IDEC of KVM College of Pharmacy in collaboration with YIP on 13/02/2024 at 2pm in the KVM CP Seminar Hall. This program helped the entrepreneurs to enhance their skills, develop the business and build connections within the industry. The main objective of the program is to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to interact with experts from different domains and thus to gain maximum knowledge for the improvement of their business, career, and personal life. The session was handled by Ms. Roshni and Ms. Lavanya, Business strategist and corporate trainer of YIP. For the business consultation, the initial assessment of each entrepreneur’s goal, challenges and needs were evaluated. One to one session with experienced business consultants was also arranged to provide personalized advice, guidance, and strategies to address specific business challenges and opportunities. This helped the entrepreneurs to refine their business plans, develop growth strategies and identify the areas for improvement. This could be done using market analysis, financial projections, and operational optimization. The session provided insights into legal and regulatory requirements related to the industry and gave an orientation to navigate issues like licenses, permits, contracts and intellectual property. The entrepreneurs were updated on the latest technological trends and innovations which helped them to stay competitive and adopt new tools to streamline their operations. The networking opportunities were also discussed during the session to share the experience, insights and best practices. Whats app groups were created to collaborate and share resources, which help to create innovative ideas and expand the business.
APOLLO PHARMACY CAMPUS DRIVE
Apollo pharmacy (Apollo ADLUX, Angamally) campus drive was held in our college on 02/11/23. Mr. Jyothis Johnson (HR manager) had visited us and conducted the first round of HR level interview for our candidates. Pharm.D interns had attended the interview for the post of clinical pharmacist. Based upon the interview performance students were graded. Among all the students attended the interview 6 students were graded excellent. Final round of interview were planned soon after completion of their course.
AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON MENSTRUAL CUP
The NSS volunteers and two staff from KVM College of Pharmacy conducted an awareness programme regarding menstrual cup on 03/10/2023 at conference hall of KVM college of nursing. Programme started with prayer song. Ms. Surya.C.S welcome the gathering. The students of 4th th year Bsc, second semester and fourth semester female students were participated in the programme. Duration of the programme was two hours. They have got awareness regarding menstrual cup, its use and advantages. Students were asked their doubts and they have given clear explanations And session ended at 4 pm.
MEDPLUS CAMPUS DRIVE
Medplus chain pharmacies limited, Kochi branch had approached our college for recruiting students as pharmacist in their firm on 15/09/23. Students from both B.Pharm and D.Pharm took part in this campus drive. Mr. Nirmal Pillai G (AGM – Regional cooperative head) and Mr. Nikhil Ravi (Asst.Manager HR) had represented Medplus Ltd and conducted the interview. The entire session entire session lasted for about 3 hours; comprising of a detail information about Medplus organization and their company policies, the work pattern and the growth assesments, etc. They also had discussed the current market trends in pharma sector and the vital role of pharmacist in it. The preliminary rounds of interview was conducted and the shortlisting of students have been done. The second round of interview and the offer letter for the selected candidates were planned later with the shortlisted students once their final results got published.
Programme Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
The awareness session on drug abuse was conducted on 19th November, 2022 at KVM College of Pharmacy,Cherthala with the aim of educating students about the consequences of drug abuse. The program was conducted for our college students. The session started off with an introductory speech by the Principal. This was followed by the awareness class by Mr.K.I Antony (Preventive Officer,Excise Department, Cherthala). The current issues related to drug abuse and statistics were presented. Various examples related to the topic were shared for better understanding among students. The presentation aimed to raise awareness, provide information and promote prevention strategies to combat the growing issue of drug abuse in our society. Students were able to understand the different categories of drugs, including stimulants, depressants, hallucinogens, and opioids; and their potential effects on physical and mental health as well as the risk associated with drug abuse including addiction, health problems, and social consequences. Short-term and long-term complications were explained and the impact of drug abuse on personal relationships, academic performance, and overall well-being etc were discussed. Information regarding the signs and symptoms of drug abuse will help them to identify potential issues in themselves or others. Details on available resources and support networks for individuals struggling with drug addiction were also provided and encouraged the students to adopt preventive measures and make informed decisions to avoid drug abuse. Counseling services and rehabilitation programs available for drug addicts were also explained in order to spread the message in the community. The programe ended at 4pm with vote of thanks.
